Brighton lawyer Andrea Banfield and Fowlerville attorney Kristina Lyke will be facing off in November to fill the seat of 44th Livingston County Circuit Court Judge Suzanne Geddis, who can’t run again because of her age.
The breakdown of the votes in the lively judicial race: Banfield – 25.88%; Lyke – 24.70%; Gatesman – 24.66%; Candela – 17.09%; Hayes – 7.67%.
Votes in the Democratic primary for U.S. senate in Livingston County matched results from across the state, and at 6 a.m. the race is being reported as too close to call: Abdul El-Sayed is currently a whisker ahead of Haley Stevens as to who will face Howell native Mike Rogers in November.
William Lawrence of Lansing will face off against Republican 7th District U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett in the general election. Lawrence got 44.6% of the vote in the three-way Democratic primary.
Rick Soucy won the Genoa Township clerk position in a race punctuated by a controversy over stolen signs.
Voters gave a huge thumbs up to the county’s Veterans Millage, which scooped up 71.39% of the vote.
