Authorities believe skeletal remains found in Hartland Twp. are of missing Oakland County man

September 9, 2026

Skeletal remains found Friday in a swampy area near Fenton and Hibner roads in Hartland Township are believed to be that of an Oakland County man who went missing in July.

A gun was found with the body, and while the autopsy has not yet been completed, authorities suspect the man died by suicide.

Detective Brian Uzoni of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said a passerby saw the body in the swampy area and reported it to authorities on Friday. Uzoni said the investigation led to a case out of Oakland County in which an endangered person reported to be suicidal went missing in July.

The LCSO is coordinating with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office on the case. No further details are available at this time.
