Art tribute to downtown Brighton, Michigan, gracing walls of Cooper & Binkley

The centerpiece of a Michigan art installation at Cooper & Binkley Jewelers in downtown Brighton is a beautiful, one-of-a-kind panoramic print of the city’s beautiful Mill Pond by artist Petrus Martens.

The piece was commissioned by Cooper & Binkley co-owner Barb Binkley, and Colin Miller, owner of The Artisan’s Bench, which carries the Michigan lakes prints by Petrus Martens. Miller had recently invited Martens out to begin working on a print of Brighton and the Mill Pond. He and Binkley worked together to commission the piece that is now gracing the wall of Cooper & Binkley Jewelers.

“It turned out better than I could have imagined,” Binkley said. “I love Petrus’ work, and I knew it would be special. I had no idea just how special.”

Binkley said she is “over-the-moon” thrilled with the piece.

“Colin guided us every step of the way in what to include in our collection and how to portray it,” Binkley said. “He came down and worked into the night to get it installed for us before the big shopping weekend. We could not be happier.”

You can see the beautiful tribute to Brighton and the state of Michigan at Cooper & Binkley Jewelers, 105 W. Main St. in downtown Brighton. The store has been serving the community since 1949.
