The Howell Public Schools’ Board of Education has approved the hiring of Patricia Poelke as the new principal of Parker Middle School. Poelke replaces Susan Muntz, who retired in June after more than 30 years of service to Howell Public Schools.

“Patricia will be a great addition to the Parker Middle School team,” said Erin MacGregor, Howell Public Schools superintendent. “She is student focused, a strong instructional leader, and has extensive administrative experience.”

“Parker is a gorgeous middle school with a great reputation,” said Poelke. “One of the things I am most excited is that this is an opportunity for me to work in the community that my kids are growing up in.”

Poelke comes to Parker Middle School from Grand Blanc High School, where she served as an assistant principal for five years. Additionally, she spent two years as an assistant principal at a high school in California. Poelke has also been a Title 1 Coordinator, summer school principal and middle school social studies teacher. She has worked with the Michigan Association of Secondary Principals to lead professional development courses for school professionals working to earn their administrative certification.

Poelke holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the California State University of Northridge. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
