The “Best Things Michigan” website recently came out with a list of the “9 Best Skate Parks in Michigan” – and a Livingston County site made the cut.
The Naz Skatepark, located at Brighton Nazarene Church, comes in at No. 9 on the list. Considered one of the best indoor skate parks in the Midwest, the Naz gives skaters and boarders the opportunity to flip and fly all year round.
The Naz Skatepark opened years ago as a way of reaching out to young people in the community – and it’s worked. The park has been a huge success, and many of the skaters end up attending church activities and services, as well.
Here’s how “Best Things Michigan” describes the Naz Skatepark:
“The Naz Skatepark in Brighton represents something of a unique prospect in skate parks. While it’s an indoor facility that has a wood surface and several ramps, it’s also operated by the Brighton Nazarene Church. Used as a way to provide local youth with “…a high-energy, positive Christian environment free of negative peer pressure and influences,” the park charges $8 for admission…but those who attend a Sunday church service get a free pass for the entire week to follow.”
Brighton Nazarene Church is located at 7669 Brighton Road, across from Brighton High School.
Hours of operation are Thursday from 4-8 p.m.; Fridays from 4-10 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (high school and up only from 6-9:30 p.m.).
