June Rock the Block kicks off the season of live music and food in downtown Howell

Rock the Block, a celebration of music and the best of the local food scene, returns to downtown Howell on Wednesday, June 7, for the kickoff of what has become a must-attend downtown Howell event. The June event is the first of three such events that take place the first Wednesday of the month during June, July and August. Now, in its third year, the event promises to be as popular as ever.“Rock the Block has become a signature event for downtown Howell, with each year exceeding our expectations,” said Cathleen Edgerly, Howell Main Street Inc. COO. “We had an overwhelming response last year to both the music and the ‘Best Bites’ portion of the evening, and can’t wait for this year to kick off. Our music lineup is as diverse as always, offering something for the whole family.”

For the June Rock the Block, the bands, bites, times, and locations include:

  • Flutter and Wow (American rustbelt band): 6 – 8 pm at Cobb-Hall Insurance
    (rain alternate location – The Pearl building (located next to the Historic Howell Theater)

  • Karley Davidson (Singer / songwriter): 6 – 8 pm at Peanut Row Alley
    (behind Carriage House Designs / Howell Western Wear, rain alternate location – inside Moe’s)
    Best Bites Food Samples from Heart of Michigan
  • Jody Raffoul Band (Working class pop / rock): 7 – 9 pm (near Cleary’s Pub, rain alternate location – inside Cleary’s)

  • Shawn Riley Band (Rock / Classic Rock / Irish – Celtic): 7 – 9 pm at 2Fogs Pub (in the courtyard, rain alternate location – inside 2Fog’s)

Best Bites on the Block will be available again at the June 7 event, with an opportunity to sample some of the best cuisine that Howell has to offer. Patrons wishing to participate in Best Bites on the Block can purchase wristbands through the DDA or at various locations throughout downtown Howell. Wristbands will also be on sale the evenings of the event at each location.

Edgerly also thanked the sponsors that helped make the inaugural event a great success, and will contribute to the success of the remaining events, including Major Sponsors: Kellogg Family Foundation and Patrick Financial Group.
