Jumpers teaching workshop before national competition

Livingston County’s Jumpin’ Allstars jump rope team, which placed 4th in the Nation in 2014, offers its annual jump rope camp before heading to Orlando Florida for this year’s competition.

The talented squad will conduct their annual jump camp June 16, 17 and 18th 9am-noon at Howell’s Three Fires Elementary school. Campers will learn the basics of jumping as well as be challenged to expand their skills over the three days. Everyone will learn new tricks, no matter what their prior experience is. Children interested in trying out for the 2015-16 team will be evaluated throughout the camp. Camp concludes on the 18th with the popular camper’s show, where new skills are highlighted; as well as a performance by the Jumpin’ Allstars themselves. Information and registration can be found on the team’s web site www.jumpinallstars.org.

In Orlando, twenty members of the team will compete in single-rope and double-dutch speed and free-style events. They also hope to improve upon last year’s second place finish in the team show event. This event requires 12 jumpers complete a 4-minute choreographed routine involving single-rope, double-dutch, gymnastics and other skills to music.

The Allstars performed well at Regionals, with all 20 jumpers qualifying in multiple events. Most qualified in all 15 possible events, in which they will compete in over a 3 day period starting June 29th. Over 700 jumpers from across the United States will gather at the ESPN Sports Complex at Disney World to participate in this year’s event.
