Howell Public Schools collects 13,000 canned good items for Gleaners

A recent canned food drive organized by Howell High School’s leadership class collected 13,000 canned goods that were donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank. Joining the high school in the drive were Hutchings, Northwest and Southwest elementaries, as well as Highlander Way and Parker middle schools.

“Our goal was to collect 4,000 canned goods, so we are super excited that we collected so many,” said Emily Clevenger, Howell High School senior and chairperson of the canned food drive. “All of the schools are thrilled about it and so is Gleaners.”

Gleaners Community Food Bank provides those in need with access to sufficient nutritious food and resources. The organization operates five distribution centers across Southeast Michigan.
