Howell HS band stepping in for UM Hockey band, performing at Oct. 22 game

The Howell High School band has been invited to substitute for the University of Michigan Hockey Band on Oct. 22. The opportunity to perform at Yost Ice Area developed due to a conflict between the university’s homecoming and the hockey game. Close to 70 Howell band members will travel to Ann Arbor for the game. To prepare for the performance, band members are staying after school for special rehearsals.

“Being invited to perform in place of the University of Michigan Hockey band is a huge honor for our program and school,” said Jason Smigell, Howell High School band director. “It speaks to the quality of our instrumental music program and the talent of our students.”

On Oct. 22 the University of Michigan hockey team will take on Michigan Tech. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. Yost Ice Arena is located at 1116 S State St, Ann Arbor. Tickets for the game are available at https://goo.gl/1ZjJdJ.
