Members from the Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals (MACP), the statewide association representing over 300 chambers of commerce in the state, elected Pat Convery, president of the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, to serve as chairperson of the board for 2016. Convery will help set the strategic direction of MACP and will take an active role in advancing MACP’s strategic agenda.

“Pat brings a high-level of experience from one of the state’s most respected chambers of commerce to the board of directors,” said Bob Thomas, executive director for MACP. “She is held in high regard by her industry peers and will be an outstanding leader for the organization.”

Convery is a graduate of the US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management at Villanova University and is a past board member for the Institute Board of Regents at Villanova. As chair of MACP, Convery will also serve on the Michigan Chamber of Commerce board of directors as the local chamber representative.

MACP was organized in 1965 to support excellence in chambers of commerce and promote best practices in chamber programs, board governance and individual professional development. The MACP board of directors is comprised of twelve executives representing chambers of commerce across the state and addresses programming and policy issues that support chambers in their communities.

Among the items on the MACP agenda this year:
• Implementing an inclusion task force to support greater diversity and collaboration in chambers of commerce
• Partnering with the Michigan Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) to deliver small business services across the state
• Recognizing excellence in chambers of commerce that pursue national accreditation and professional development.

  1. Congratulations, Pat! We know MACP is in great hands. You lead the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce with integrity, advocacy and connectivity; traits that MACP will get value from too.
