Fowlerville’s Curtis Grocery closing for good at the end of month

Fowlerville is losing a downtown institution.

Curtis Grocery, which has been family-owned since 1921, will be closing at the end of the month, according to owners Ken and Craig Curtis. The Curtises told the Fowlerville News & Views that new policies instituted by the wholesaler that supplies the store with many of its products prompted the decision.

A storewide clearance sale will begin Nov. 27, and the store will close for good at the end of the month. The Curtises say there are no plans for the building.

Located at 130 S. Grand Ave. in downtown Fowlerville, Curtis Grocery has gone through several name changes through the years. For many decades, it was known as Frank’s IGA.
