Finding Roots throwing first anniversary party May 20-21

/

Finding Roots is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Saturday with an open house during regular business hours. Stop by and meet the creative souls behind the handmade Michigan products sold at Finding Roots from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 20, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at 111 N. Michigan Ave. in downtown Howell.

The open house will feature light refreshments and giveaways, as well as a chance to meet and mingle with the makers whose creations are offered at the shop. Finding Roots sells functional and household decorative art, jewelry, garden accessories, candles, salves, laundry soap and more – all handcrafted in Michigan.

The shop also offers classes and enrichment opportunities in its community room, covering subjects such as personal health and wellness, essential oils (the calm essential oil blend is a real charmer), and jewelry making, as well as programs for home-schooled youth and senior living communities.

In true community and healing spirit, Finding Roots supports a charity of the month. Past charities include Livingston Family Center, Livingston Bountiful Harvest Food Pantry, Howell Nature Center, Canines for Change, Fleece & Thank You, MEND, and Reaching Higher.

Co-owners Lisa Jarrell and Tirzah Sirken opened Finding Roots in May 2016 with a dream to help their far-reaching community get back to its roots — in touch with nature, and help restore and celebrate the love, friendship and community inside of everyone – all while supporting Michigan artists like themselves.
