Pat Convery, President of the Howell Chamber, is excited about Steve, the new manager of the Howell Farmers Market. “This year we welcome Steve Wilczewski as our new Market Manager. Steve has a great deal of experience at different farmers markets and the Howell Sunday Farmers’ Market in particular. He grew up assisting his folks with their market booth.”
Locally-grown and handmade wares will be available on State and Clinton Streets next to the Court House in downtown Howell every Sunday from 9:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. from May through October, starting May 5th. You will find about 70 vendors there, including local growers, agricultural producers, artisans and crafts-people.
“We are pleased to offer a wide variety of produce, meats, cheeses, spices, baked goods and crafts as well as bedding plants and nursery items. The market’s location in the heart of beautiful downtown Howell, as well as the live entertainment every week, make it a popular destination every week,” says Convery.
Festivities on opening day will include free horse-drawn wagon rides through historic downtown Howell, and free copies of the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus. Products available at the beginning of the season include annuals, perennials and nursery stock for gardeners.
The market is even a partner in Project Fresh, a federal WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program that encourages low-income shoppers to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for their families.
