Commissioners need to fill remainder of term left open after death of Dennis Dolan

State law stipulates that a vacancy on the Livingston County Board of Commissioners must be filled by a majority vote of the commission within 30 days of the date of the vacancy.

The Livingston County Board of Commissioners is looking to fill the remainder of the term of Dennis Dolan, who died April 1, 2020; the length of the appointment will be until Dec. 31, 2020. The commissioner elected in the November election will take office on Jan. 1, 2021.

The Board of Commissioners is requesting that interested parties submit a letter of interest and résumé, which includes a summary of community involvement, along with a statement of value the candidate would bring to the Commission and the constituents of District 8. A preferred email address must be included for further communication.

Candidates must be registered voters of District 8, which includes Hamburg Township Precincts 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Green Oak Township Precinct 8.

Due to the Governor’s Executive Order, the board will only be accepting electronic letters of interest submitted by email to The Board of Commissioners at commissioners@livgov.com. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, with virtual interviews scheduled for the Board of Commissioners’ virtual meeting on Wednesday, April 22.
