Each year, the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation accepts generous donations from local businesses for the Margaret Starkey Scholarship, which is geared toward non-traditional, working students.

Margaret Starkey was executive assistant at the chamber for 31 years until she retired in 1987. She was dedicated and enthusiastic, a woman who had great attention to detail and a love of community service. These outstanding personal qualities helped her achieve great success despite big obstacles in her life. In her memory, the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation honors employees for outstanding service while advancing their education.

To nominate a working student employee, visit howell.org for forms and specifics. Nominations will be accepted through May 15, 2017. Recipients will be notified through their employer in the fall.

Questions can be directed to Pat Convery, president of the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, at (517) 546-3920.
