American Idol: A new age? Or a tragic end?

We all saw the beginning of what seemed like a brilliant show featuring none other than Simon Cowell himself. We watched as Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson jumped up to take the job as judges of what looked to be a promising new chance for thousands of people across the nation.

For the first season, we admired Kelly Clarkson’s skill and were impressed and excited when she won. Hardly anyone disagreed with the decision America had made. But was it all America?

As the seasons dragged on, we noticed a few flaws in what seemed to be a perfect show. Auditioners would appear in several different outfits on what was supposed to be a one-day audition with only one round. That would be how producers wanted it to be seen, but this was not true. As it turned out, people waiting for a week to see not only if they were a good enough singer to meet the judges, but to discover if they had a good enough sob story to produce more viewers.

Was this genious or a small step back for the hit show?

Time went on and people began to bore of Paula and Simon ranting forever on against one another and the same types of people winning over and over. There was always the sob story, the bratty girl, the blonde, the player…and that one person with a little decency left to their name. How many times did that person actually win?

Very few. But aside from the nasty rumors and tabloids about the rising stars, the judges table began to have issues as well. And it all started when they tried to freshen things up with a brand new judge, Kara. This later caused an unsuspected absense of Paula Abdul. With only Kara, Simon, and Randy for one season, even the newbie left. This left the unsuspecting producers to pick a new face.
And who better to take the job than the new hit of comedy, Ellen Degeneres? Ellen quit after only one season, taking even the producer Simon with her as he left his own show for dead, and everyone waited in eagerness to see who would be next this season.
And who is it now?

Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

So now you decide? Will this bring the viewers back to the once brilliant show? Or will this finally mean the end of American Idol legend?
