The Choir Program at BHS has traditionally been one of the strongest high school choral programs in the state of Michigan. “College A Cappella Night” is a gala event that will raise money for the Brighton High School and Scranton Middle School choir programs while featuring some of the best young voices from local schools and colleges, offering the students in the BHS and SMS choirs an opportunity to perform and to learn from other very accomplished musicians.  The proceeds from the evening will go to support the Brighton Choir Programs and will be used to purchase music and uniforms, upgrade equipment and defray the costs of choir performances and activities throughout the year.

The show will feature “The Accafellas” from Michigan State University, “The Harmonettes” from The University of Michigan and “The Ebb and Flow Quartet” from Central Michigan University. In addition, “Chicappella”, the women’s a Cappella group from BHS and “Deep Treble”, the men’s a Cappella group from BHS will perform.

Phil Johnson, the director of choirs at Brighton High School, was a founding member of “The Acafellas” while he was a student at Michigan State University. “The Ebb and Flow Quartet” includes Ben Krinke, a BHS alumnus and former choir member.
